Oh no, it has really happened. According to ProBasketballTalk.com the NBA has announced that games through Dec. 15 are canceled.
The players apparently have only been shooting bricks in these negotiations, no net whatsoever.
The union disclaimed interest, meaning the union no longer wishes to represent the players in negotiations. Now there will be anti-trust lawsuits filed in the near future. As opposed to decertifying which would have taken 45-60 days.
The NFL took a similar approach and agents have been advising the NBA to do the same thing since July.
Many players have taken the liberty of hiring anti-trust attorney David Boies. The NBA fans may be losing, but in receiving a big payday for all his services, this attorney is taking a page from Charlie Sheen -- winning.
Commissioner David Stern said in an interview that this is a terrible decision to make. He said perhaps the players should have done this a while back in order to save the season.
Yeah, good idea, Stern. However, now that "a while back" has passed and the players are doing it now, what's your advice for the present?
It looks like it's NBA2K11 until Stern decides to bring back basketball.
