If it's not about the revenue split it's something else.
The owners and players have agreed on a 50/50 revenue split. However,ChicagoTribune.com stated they are still divided among many issues.
Commissioner David Stern said, "Nothing was worked out today. ... We're not failing and we're not succeeding. We're just there."
Union president Derek Fisher and Stern's thinking seemed to be aligned since Fisher said, "We can't say that there was significant progress made today."
The other issues that are involved in these negotiations are the salary cap system and the spending rules for teams over the luxury tax level.
What the players want is for the teams over the luxury tax level to remain options for free agents despite the fact the league thinks talents would be spread equally throughout the league if payrolls were more balanced.
Players are willing to renegotiate their BRI split if the owners would agree to make changes on these system issues.
Although, executive director of the NBA Billy Hunter had heard Stern say Tuesday they are planning to cancel Christmas games. Stern said to NBA TV that they had made no such plans nor had any discussions of the matter.
